University students are moving toward financial independence while facing lifestyle pressures that may encourage non-priority spending. This study examines whether financial literacy and lifestyle predict consumptive behavior among students in the 2024 cohort of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Jember. An explanatory quantitative survey with a cross-sectional design was conducted. Using convenience sampling, 85 students participated from a population of 129. Data were collected online through 14 items rated on a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using multiple linear regression. Financial literacy negatively predicted consumptive behavior (B = -0.637; t = -4.018; p < 0.001), whereas lifestyle positively predicted it (B = 0.783; t = 4.698; p < 0.001). The overall model was significant, F(2,82) = 14.011; p < 0.001, with an adjusted R² of 0.237. Thus, after accounting for the number of predictors, the model explained 23.7% of the variation in consumptive behavior. The findings support practical efforts to strengthen students' financial management skills and encourage more deliberate evaluation of lifestyle-driven spending.
